Kuo has justified his considerations with the research he conducted - presumably this is a survey of Apple suppliers, from whom he often gets useful information about the company's plans.
According to the analyst, the introduction of USB Type-C \"may increase the speed of [data] transfer and charging on the iPhone at the hardware level, but the final specification will still depend on the support on iOS.\" The information that Apple may equip the iPhone with USB Type-C connector instead of its own Lightning, has been circulating for several years.
The electronics giant has gradually started to move away from its proprietary port, adding USB Type-C to the latest iPad.
Also USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt interface have long been used on Mac computers.
Additional pressure on Apple has the European Union, which also has been pushing for the adoption of a single interface for chargers for a number of years. It was suggested that with the iPhone the company will still hold out to the last and rather completely remove the smartphone connectors, providing a fully wireless data transfer and battery charging.
However, in March 2021, according to Mr.
Kuo, Apple was going to keep the Lightning connector on the iPhone \"for the foreseeable future.
