Noctua has released special NA-IS1 spacers for its fans.
According to the manufacturer, the new products increase fan efficiency in certain usage scenarios.Image source: NoctuaThe company claims that the special spacers are designed to improve airflow in cases where fans have to draw air through various perforated surfaces, including radiators, mesh panels and filters.
If a fan is installed very close to a perforated surface, turbulence can be created, and with it comes negative aerodynamic and acoustic effects.By adding 5mm between the fan and the obstruction, the NA-IS1 spacers can significantly reduce inlet turbulence, which will not only improve acoustics, but also help fans increase airflow, according to the developer.Laboratory tests show that the use of spacers not only increases airflow by 4.4 m3/h on average, but also reduces fan noise levels Noctua NA-IS1 spacers will be available in NA-IS1-14 Sx2 for 140mm fans and NA-IS1-12 Sx2 for 120mm fans.
Black versions of the NA-IS1-14 chromax.black Sx2 and NA-IS1-12 chromax.black Sx2 will also be available.
The company indicates that the NA-IS1 is compatible with all Noctua 120 × 25mm and 140 × 25mm fans. All versions of the NA-IS1 come with two spacers, anti-vibration pads, and a set of M3 and UNC 6-32 screws.
A pair of NA-IS1 spacers costs $14.9 or euros, depending on the region.
In addition to the NA-IS1 spacers, Noctua has also released the new NA-AVG2 anti-vibration spacers for 140mm fans.
Like the NA-AVG1 spacers for 120mm fans, the new NA-AVG2 spacers are made of soft but very durable rubber to help dampen minor fan vibrations as well as reduce airflow loss between the fan and heatsink.
The NA-AVG2 will be available in both traditional brown and chromax.black.
A set of three pads will cost 9.90 euros or dollars.
