AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Review - Pay Less Have More

    The new Ryzen 3 1200 is a long-awaited price/performance processor of the AMD. As usual, the company has achieved to take advantage of 4 cores, they are again winning against their rival. What we are going to do today is giving some important details about this decent desktop CPU.

The Architecture and Innovations

    Firstly, the Zen architecture performs 52% better than the Excavator in terms of single-core performance. The company announced it proudly and they are right to be proud of this innovation. It makes a huge difference. Besides, they say that the Zen architecture, the AMD Ryzen 3 1200 in particular for this article, is now using the energy more efficiently. It means the cooling is easier now.

    There is another important development on the architecture side, the AMD Ryzen 3 1200 and many other models support two-channel DDR4 memories. And this had been a real issue for users because the old products only supported DDR3 memories for a long time. But here with the new Zen architecture, we see many new technologies are utilized. For example; we see Sata+NVMe, SATA Express, USB 3.1 GEN2 and etc. are now integrated into the chipset.

    Despite being an affordable desktop CPU, the Ryzen 3 1200 achieves scores like 2878 (CPU) and 4389 (graphics) in 3DMark Time Spy tests. Those scores also prove that this product is better than the Intel i3-7100 in many different ways.

    On the rendering side of the benchmarks, we get 477 multi-core and 134 single-core scores from Cinebench R15. When we compare the results of Cinebench R 15 - MULTI (GTX 1060 9GBPS), we see that the AMD Ryzen 3 1200 outscores the Core i3-7100 by 66 points. Additionally, it falls behind the Ryzen 3 1300X by 82 points, as expected. For the single-core test, we have a better performing i3-7100 (=161). (Ryzen 3 1200 = 135)

    In conclusion, the quad-core Zen architecture on the Ryzen 3 1200 performs better, especially for the multi-core tasks. But overall, it offers a quality user experience. You can run a variety of games and applications smoothly with the right setup.
