The recently released AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX processor has not been overlooked by motherboard manufacturers. And Supermicro is no exception, but in addition to the M12SWA-TF motherboard for the AMD processor, it has also released a finished product & ; workstation AS-5014A-TT. The Supermicro M12SWA-TF motherboard & ; is the company's 12th generation motherboard and includes the new ASPEED ASR2600 BMC remote management module, with advanced security features and IPMI 2.0 support.
The board comes in E-ATX form factor, supports single AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3000WX series processor (up to 64 cores) with heat dissipation up to 280W. The maximum memory capacity is an impressive 2TB (up to 8 x 256GB). The expansion slot set is standard for such solutions: 6 x PCIe 4.0 x16, 4 x M.2 (2280 or 22110), 2 x U.2 and only 4 SATA3 ports (not surprising given the increasing popularity and rapidly falling prices of PCIe storage).
The Supermicro AS05014A-TT workstation comes in a Tower (5U) form factor and can be mounted in a standard server rack. Two cooling options will be available: standard air cooling and liquid cooling with a large 360mm radiator. For disk subsystems, there are four internal 3.5”/2.5” and two front panel bays for two 2.5” drives. Standard front panel port selection & ; two USB 3.2 (Type A), two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.2 (Type C); rear panel has 5 more USB ports. The power supply range will include models from 1200W to 2000W (no redundancy and hot-swappable). Supermicro will be expanding its AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO based workstation series in the future, look forward to more interesting models.
