AMD has released Radeon Software Adrenalin 22.2.2 graphics driver which includes support for Total War: Warhammer III, released on February 17 and improved AMD Smart Access Memory technology for a range of games.
AMD Smart Access Memory technology allows the CPU to use the entire array of available video memory instead of only accessing a maximum 256 MB of video memory. This approach allows to achieve a significant performance boost in some modern games. AMD Smart Access Memory technology in Radeon Software Adrenalin 22.2.2 is optimized for the following games:
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla & ;up to 24% performance improvement when playing at 1080p resolution and Ultra settings on Ryzen 9 5900HX compared to the previous version of the graphics driver; Battlefield 5 & ;up to 23% better performance when playing at 1080p Ultra on Ryzen 7 5800H vs. the previous graphics driver; Borderlands 3 & ;up to 18% performance improvement over the previous graphics driver version when playing at 1080p resolution and set to Badass on Ryzen 9 5900HX; F1 2021 & ;up to 17% performance improvement over the previous graphics driver when playing at 1080p Ultra on Ryzen 7 5800H; Gears 5 & ;up to 12% performance improvement over the previous graphics driver version when playing at 1080p HD on Ryzen 7 5800H; Fortnite & ;up to 11% performance improvement over the previous graphics driver version when playing at 1080p resolution and Ultra settings on Ryzen 7 5800H; Cyberpunk 2077 & ;up to 10% performance boost when playing at 1080p resolution and Ultra settings on Ryzen 9 5900HX over the previous driver version.
AMD also announced a list of known issues that will be fixed in future releases of the Adrenalin driver:
Lack of Aero effect (window transparency) in Windows 10; lighting issues in Cyberpunk 2077 (some areas look too dark) when playing the game on AMD graphics cards such as Radeon RX 570; freezes and performance degradation when playing God of War on AMD graphics cards such as Radeon RX 6900 XT and others Black screen display when Enhanced Sync is enabled (users affected by this issue should temporarily remove themselves from this feature); AMD Radeon Software tool displays incorrect video memory frequency values.
