Apple may equip a future foldable iPhone or iPad with an E-Ink color display

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple is exploring the use of color E-Ink electronic paper displays in its future devices.
According to the analyst color e-ink displays are particularly well suited for an additional screen with low power consumption in devices with a foldable form factor.Image source: 9to5mac.comAlthough Apple currently does not have in production foldable tablets or smartphones, there are rumors that the company is considering creating an iPad in the form factor of a book.
Back in February this year, Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young and Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman reported on Apple's work on creating a foldable hybrid iPad and MacBook, equipped with a flexible 20-inch display.Currently, manufacturers of foldable Android devices prefer to use OLED panel for additional screens.
For example, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is equipped with an additional 6.2-inch AMOLED display, which makes it look like a regular smartphone when folded.
Opening the device, the user gets access to a flexible 7.6-inch main screen.
For such a design E-Ink-display is unlikely to be used.
But the Galaxy Z Flip smartphones in the clamshell format has an additional OLED screen just over an inch in size, and it could well be replaced by E Ink.
